Biography

Mr. Verri’s practice focuses exclusively on Federal Indian law, including tribal constitutional law, internal governance matters, federal issues, tribal courts and issues that protect and enhance tribal sovereignty, self-sufficiency, economic development and business structures. He is dedicated – both personally and professionally – to representing the interests of tribal nations, protecting their customs and traditional values and enhancing their economies by maximizing their sovereign rights. In this regard, he has zealously advocated tribal positions, including in administrative matters involving the Department of the Interior, the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the National Indian Gaming Commission, negotiated gaming facility agreements, memorandum of agreements, management contracts, other agreements subject to the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act and negotiated state-tribal compacts.

Mr. Verri has extensive experience appearing before tribal courts to advocate the promotion, development and protection of tribal culture, business, gaming and governance matters. He works relentlessly to provide high-quality, low-cost legal advice to tribes, their boards, commissions, committees and business enterprises. Said advice includes, but is not limited to, matters ranging from analyzing the tribe’s laws, preparing legal memorandum, concept planning and development, business structure creation with a view to maximize the tax and business advantages of tribal ownership and the establishment of checks and balances necessary for tribal businesses to be successful and insulated from political interference – all the while maintaining the honorable historic and cultural values associated with being a sovereign nation.

Prior to joining Rosette, LLP, Mr. Verri served as an arbitrator in dispute resolution proceedings and has represented clients before state, federal and administrative agencies. His over four decades of legal experience and skill in this regard further promote and advance the tribal and economic development needs and goals which Rosette, LLP advances for its clients. In addition to being admitted to practice before state and federal courts in multiple jurisdictions, he is also admitted to practice before many courts of federally recognized Indian tribes across the country.

He received his Juris Doctor degree from Case Western Reserve University, School of Law in 1977 where he was an Editor of the Journal of International Law and his Bachelor of Arts from Boston College, cum laude, in 1972 where he was recognized for his high scholastic ability and leadership by being named the Marshall of the College Honor Society by the Dean, Faculty members and Administration of Boston College.

* Mr. Verri is admitted to practice law only in the District of Columbia, Ohio and Rhode Island. His practice is limited to Federal Indian law, Tribal Courts and federal law.
